Ruth Powers Graduate Scholarship Application

The Ruth Powers Endowed Scholarship for Graduate Studies aims to support graduate students at Clarke University. This is one of 3 scholarships established by Ruth Powers Gamwell Perkins, a Dubuque native and 1941 Clarke alumna who pursued a successful career in the airline industry and real estate in the state of Washington. The scholarship amount awarded may be up to $13,000.
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Applicants must have been accepted into a graduate program at Clarke University.
2. Applicants must demonstrate financial need as determined by completion of the Renewal Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Only applicants who have filed a FAFSA may apply.
3. Applicants must not be employed by an organization that provides tuition/education benefits.
4. For current students, applicants must have a minimum Clarke graduate GPA of 3.0 or above.
5. Preference will be given to applicants who:
Belong to one or more groups that have traditionally been underrepresented in their field of study.
Demonstrate a commitment to principles of diversity. (Evaluated through the personal statement described in criteria
Will be enrolled as a fulltime graduate student.
6. Applicants must provide a personal statement (300-word max) addressing “Your Commitment to Diversity”. Provide examples of how you have actively promoted diversity, equity, and inclusion within your community, place of employment, academic pursuits, or extracurricular activities.
